YOUNG TAKS TESTERS:

Public school students all over Texas recently received their scores from the annual Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills, more commonly referred to as the TAKS test. TAKS is a standardized test designed to evaluate students’ attainment in the subjects of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Hilltopper News Reporter Eliza de Ayala has more.


CYBER CRIMES UNITS:

Cyber crimes is a growing issue in society today, even stretching into the race for Austin’s District Attorney. Hilltopper News' Anna Watson reports.


TEENS AND SEX:

Today, one in four teenage girls in the U.S. has a sexually transmitted disease according to a study reported by CNN in March. Thomas Coronado with the Hilltopper News reports.


ECONOMICS AND SXSW:

For those students and visitors who were in Austin over Spring Break it was nearly impossible to escape the music coming from the annual South by Southwest Music Festival. For Hilltopper News, Ali Stintzi reports.


FAKE IDs:

Fake ID’s have become prevalent among minors these days in order to buy alcohol or get access to 21 and up clubs. Mackenzie Jenkins for Hiltopper News has more on the story.


FREDDIE'S STORY:

Finally, we bring you the story of a man, an immigrant, and a political refugee once a busy reporter for the Argentinean Magazine Noticias, now a simple waiter at one of Austin’s many Tex-Mex restaurants. Hilltopper News' Will Parsons has his story.
